Walter Edward Power, Jr.

November 5, 1945 — August 8, 2017

Walter Edward Power, Jr., 71, of Monetta, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017. Mr. Power was born in Elberton, Georgia, son of the late Walter Edward and Martha Griffeth Power.

After graduating from A. C. Flora High School in Columbia, he served as a hospital corpsman in the U. S. Navy. When his service in the Navy was complete he returned to Columbia and obtained bachelor and masters degrees from the University of South Carolina. He then spent a decade working for agencies dealing with substance abuse before going into the real estate business. When he retired, he moved to Monetta, SC. His community service included many years as a constable as well as volunteer EMT and service on the board of the Monetta Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife, Gwen Power, sister, Judy McGregor, and brother, Charles "Chuck" Power.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Monetta Volunteer Fire Department, 15 Walden Street, Monetta, SC 29105.
