The graveside funeral service for Addie Elise Colclough Byrd, of Ridge Spring, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 14, 2014 at the Ridge Spring Cemetery. Father Tom DiMarco will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Ridge or The Bishop Gravatt Center. Mrs. Byrd died on Wednesday, July 11, 2014. Born in Ridge Spring, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Mayrant and Caroline Pentelope Dixon Colclough. Mrs. Byrd graduated from Rice Business College with honors and was offered the position of secretary to the Saluda County Home Demonstration Agent. She was a lifelong member of Grace Church (Church of the Ridge) and attended Church of the Good Shepherd while she lived in Columbia. She was a member of the Ridge Garden Club, the Women's Study Club, DAR, First Families of South Carolina and the Huguenot Society of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her five siblings, Mayrant Colclough, Charles Colclough, Richardson Colclough, Buford Colclough, and Elizabeth Colclough Asbill; and by a son, Joseph Samuel Byrd, Professor Emeritus, University of South Carolina. She is survived by one son, the Venerable Frederick Colclough Byrd, Archdeacon Emeritus of the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina; one daughter-in-law, Ann Harrelson Byrd of Lexington; two grandsons, Stephen Leigh Byrd; Dr. Gregory Thurman Byrd; four great grandsons, Jackson M. Byrd; Franke Jones; Taylor Byrd; Joseph Byrd; nephew, Lee Murphy; and nieces, Nellie Kathryn Colclough Graham; Carolyn Colclough Shealy; and Mary Murphy Thompson.
