Bertha Oswalt Stone

Bertha O. Stone, 95, widow of Kennie W. Stone of Batesburg, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, July 2 at Milton Shealy Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park with Rev. Justin Eshleman officiating with Russell Laird assisting with the service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Johnnie Quattlebaum, Jerry Kinsey, Donald Smith, Woodrow "Sonny" Clamp, Jr, Craig Oswalt, and Vernon Shealy. Mrs. Stone was born in Batesburg, SC, daughter of the late Charlton and Ellen Kneece Oswalt. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Batesburg. She was also a member of the #4 Circle WMU, and she was active in Lorena Miller Sunday School Class. Mrs. Stone is survived by her only child, Julia Dixon; granddaughters, Paulette (Nick) Dowlen; Rennie Dixon-Caughman; great granddaughter, Autumn Dowlen; sister-in-law, Barbara Oswalt; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Moore; brothers, Howard Oswalt; and James Edward Crapps. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Lexington Extended Care for their loving care. Memorials may be made to Green Hill Baptist Church Shut-In Ministry, West Columbia, SC; and Bethlehem Baptist Church, Batesburg, SC.
