Betty Jean Kelly

Betty Jean Kelly, 83, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August, 24, at Kelly Family Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Thompson officiating. Due to the concerns with Covid-19, social distancing and masks are encouraged. Active pallbearers will be John Hammond, James Kelly, Ron Trotter, Brandon Smith and Jimmy Hook. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Kelly and Phil McCarthy.

Mrs. Kelly was born in Mershon, GA, the daughter of the late James Harley and Lois Vera Boatwright Bennett. She was married to the late Rev. John Henry Kelly. Mrs. Kelly was a member of New Day Church in Gilbert.

Surviving are her son, James. O (Peggy) Kelly; daughters, Joyce (Ron) Trotter, Barbara Kelly, Linda (Wyman) Sease, Lesa (Randy) Autry, Carolyn (Luther) Smith, Shirley Rawls; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and beloved fur-baby, Sybil. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Harley Nettles.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday, August 23, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. Due to the concerns with Covid-19, social distancing and masks are encouraged. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Day Church, 108 Veterans Ct, Gilbert, SC 29054. The family would like to give a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and Julie Price for all their love and care. Also, a special thanks to Mrs. Kelly’s caretakers, Marvella, Caroline, Sheila, Lisa, and Trish.
