Cassie Mae Cromer Foley

October 18, 1920 — July 30, 2016

Cassie Mae Cromer Foley, 95, of Ridge Spring, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 3, at Kedron Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery with Rev. Brad Willis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Foley was born in Saluda County, daughter of the late John Andrew Cromer, Sr. and Amzy Mae Rodgers. She was married to the late William “W.M.” Foley for 68 years. She grew up in Monetta and was one of the last surviving members of the Championship Monetta Girls’ basketball team under Coach George Sawyer. Mrs. Foley married W.M. during WWII and later they made their home in Aiken County. She loved serving the Lord and went to Haiti five times and to France once on mission trips. She was an avid huntress and fisherman who loved everything about the outdoors. Mrs. Foley enjoyed gardening, baking and canning. She was a vender at Aiken Country Farmers Market for sixty years. She and her husband played an important role in helping build her beloved Kedron Baptist Church’s present sanctuary.

She is survived by her daughters, Ivie (Alex) Willis; Sheryl (Frank) Rodgers; grandchildren, Mary (Michael) Brown; Lurah Foley; Shaylah (Barry) McDonald; Joel (Hank) Deer; Heather (Gavin) Rodgers Baker; Ben (Jessica) Rodgers; great grandchildren, Conner and Vivan Brown; Wyatt McDonald; Owen Deer; Dakoda, Julian and Gauge Rodgers; brothers, John A. (Irdell) Cromer, Jr; Thurmond (Annie Lou) Cromer; Brunson Luzon (Casina) Cromer; sister, Norma Jackie Stone; brother-in-law, Martin Brown; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, John R. Foley; grandchildren, Ed and Viva Foley; sister, Miriam Brown and brother-in-law, Frank Stone.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kedron Baptist Church or Trinity Hospice of Aiken, 690 Medical Park Drive, Suite 400, Aiken, SC 29801. The family wishes to thank Patricia Seigler (honorary grandchild) for the loving and compassionate care she showed to our loved one and also the caregivers for Trinity Hospice for their help and comfort.
