James Monroe Miller

James Monroe Miller, 75, of West Columbia, born on March 16, 1939, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 8, 2014, while surrounded by his family. Also known as "Jim" to many, James was a faithful servant of God and he was a very kind, giving, and loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. James was born and raised in Ehrhardt, SC and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Allied Chemical (now known as Honeywell). James was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in West Columbia, SC. James was predeceased by his parents, Jefferson "Jeff" Monroe Miller and Gladys Elise Ayer Miller. He is survived by his brother Harold Miller (Jane), sister Marcia Black (Donny), and brother Paul Miller (Carol). He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Bill Miller (Dana), Joey Miller (Missy), Michelle Brauer (Todd), Amanda Black, Scott Black (Jenni), Valerie Rowe (Kenny), Melanie Rowell (Fred); great nieces and nephews, Avery and Preston Miller, Reese and Reagan Brauer, Jordan and Jayce Black, Alexis Rowe, and Whit Rowell. He is also survived by two loving aunts, numerous cousins, and his beloved dog, Pearl. James' family wishes to extend thanks and gratitude to his wonderful nurses and doctors that helped take care of him during his hospital stay at Lexington Medical Center and especially while in the Intermediate ICU and Medical ICU. The hospital chaplains, his pastor, and his sister's pastor, and the many visitors, calls, and prayers by family and friends are also greatly appreciated. The celebration of James' life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church at 1201 Mohawk Drive, West Columbia, SC on Tuesday, November 11. Visitation will be at 1 pm and the celebration service at 2 pm. Following the celebration service, burial will be at Ridge Crest Memorial Park at 329 Summerland Avenue, Batesburg-Leesville, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity UMC (address above).
