Johnnie W. Oswald, 72, of Leesville, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 17, at St. James Lutheran Church with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Lyerly officiating. Active pallbearers will be Milton Shealy, Zane Corley, George R. Shealy, Wilford Swygert, Daniel Lowman, Leonardo Padgett, and James Gunter. Honorary pallbearers are the St. James Lutheran Church Council Members. Mr. Oswald was born in Batesburg, SC, son of the late Martin H. and Thelma Koon Oswald. He was a member of the Retired NCO Club, St. James Lutheran Church, LLM with St. James Lutheran Church, and was a former Council Member. He retired from the S.C. National Guard as a Sergeant First Class after 22 years of service. Mr. Oswald enjoyed coon hunting, rabbit hunting and fishing. He was a dedicated general manager at Oswald Lumber where he loved his job. Surviving are his loving wife, Linda Hawkins Oswald; sons and daughter-in-law, Ben Oswald; Jo-Jo (Jessica) Oswald; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim (Nicki) Oswald; Bob Oswald; Bill (Mary Frances) Oswald; sister, Lavonia Frick all of Leesville; and sister-in-law, Teresa Oswald. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Oswald; and brother-in-law, Roy Frick. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 16, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made St. James Lutheran Church c/o Building Fund, 308 Church Street, Leesville, SC 29070. The family would like especially thank Ailine Herlong, home health nurse, and Dr. Solon Hughs for helping Johnnie with his battle.
