L.M. "Frog" Matthews

L.M. “Frog” Matthews, 86, of Leesville, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 31, at Hulon Baptist Church with burial in Quattlebaum Cemetery with Rev. Robert Patterson, Rev. Robert Culbertson and Rev. Earl Hartley officiating.

Active pallbearers are Melvin Hallman, Bobby Anderson, Mark Fox, Wally Gantt, Gary Evans and John Hartley. Honorary pallbearers are Sam & Brenda Senterfeit, Harry & Linda Sease, Virgil & Marie Leaphart, Olin & Wilma Warren, Mims Keisler, James & Loretta Cromer, George & Miriam Umbarger, Johnny & Hilda Umbarger Paul Quattlebaum and Martin Quattlebaum, Ted Matthews and Phil & June Furtick.

Mr. Matthews was born in Leesville, SC son of the late Henry Lee and Pauline Virginia Quattlebaum Matthews. He was a retired lineman with MCEC with 43 years of service. He was lifetime member of Hulon Baptist Church he loved his church. He loved Jesus, family and people. He enjoyed dirt track racing. He also loved riding around burning gas and listening and singing to country music.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Sara Matthews; sons and daughters-in-law, Henry “Bee-Bop” (Melissa) Matthews, Bobby (Barbara) Brock, Johnny (Beverly) Brock, Josh (Jennifer) Brock; daughters and son-in-law, Debbie Brock, Amber (Ryan) Currie; a special niece, Mary (Johnny) Hawes Dillion; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Pete Matthews, Lois Hawes, Josie Matthews, Christine Matthews Boyce; and a special nephew, Tommy Hawes.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 30, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at his home. The family would like to give a special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice for their care and support.
