Lee Richard "Ricky" Umbarger Jr.

Lee Richard “Ricky” Umbarger, Jr., 72, of Leesville, gained his heavenly wings Monday, June 26, 2017. He was born in Columbia, SC the son of the late Lee Richard “Shorty” and Irma Matthews Umbarger. He was previously employed by Graniteville Mill, Burlington Industries and Dean’s. Ricky’s love of the outdoors kept him busy in his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, beekeeping and being with family.

Ricky is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pauline Rodgers Umbarger, grandsons, Kody (Christy) Keisler, Matthew Umbarger, granddaughter, Angel Umbarger of Leesville, brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny (Hilda) Umbarger; George (Miriam) Umbarger; Andy Umbarger; Dean (Carolyn) Umbarger all of Leesville; Mike (Pat) Umbarger of Gilbert; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dawn (Everette) Shealy; Mary (John) Gantt all of Leesville; Debra (Oscar) Gentry of Ward; also numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, and great-great nieces/nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, son, Alonzo Umbarger and infant sister.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Neal Umbarger, Allen Umbarger, Travis Kyzer, Ashley Johnson, Todd Young, Chuck Lyons, Gabbie Hayes and Miles Howell. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 28 at Milton Shealy Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and all other times at the home. Graveside services at Quattlebaum Cemetery, Leesville will be Thursday, June 29 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Mike Keech officiating.

Ricky was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 533 Hayride Rd., Gilbert, SC 29054 or Milton Shealy Funeral Home, 115 N. Pine St., Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006.
