Linda Williams

Gayle Smith Williams, 74, of Batesburg, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021. A private family gathering will be held.

Mrs. Williams was born in Greenwood, SC, a daughter of the late Carlton and Sophie DeLoache Smith. She was a teacher’s assistant for over twenty years at Saluda Elementary School. Mrs. Williams was a Saluda High School graduate where she won Miss Senior and Mrs. Saluda. She had a beautiful singing voice along with her ability to write poetry, publishing some poetry in a magazine. Mrs. Williams was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mike Williams; daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina Williams (David) Berry; brother, Sonny Smith of Germany; and granddaughters, Brooke and Victoria “Tori” Berry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Brenda Kirkland and Patsy Black.
