Mary Ella Schumpert Senterfeit

Mary Ella Schumpert Senterfeit, 86, of Batesburg, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday, June 10, at Ridge Crest Memorial Park with Rev. David Waganer officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 10, before the service at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. Active pallbearers are Nicholas Senterfeit, David Strother, Jim Eidson, Joey Shinn, Zachary Pryor and Ashley Carder. Mrs. Senterfeit was born in Saluda, SC, daughter of the late George William Schumpert I and Louise Yarbrough Schumpert. She was married to the late Peyton Donald "Don" Senterfeit. Mrs. Senterfeit was formerly a telephone operator for Southern Bell and later in life was a merchant and restaurant owner. She volunteered in the schools over the years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Batesburg. Surviving are her sons, Michael (Rachel Williams) Senterfeit of Columbia; Stephen Senterfeit of Batesburg; brothers, Milton (Patricia) Schumpert of Columbia; George William Schumpert, Jr; Curtis Schumpert both of Saluda; grandchildren, Rachel Dexter Senterfeit; Nicholas Peyton Senterfeit; Renee Senterfeit (Joey) Shinn; and great grandchild, Bailey Shinn, with whom she was very close. She had many friends throughout her life, including the Christakos family, the Smith family, the Shealy family, Patricia Johnson, Grace Keisler, and many others too numerous to name in the newspaper. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Batesburg.
