Paul Valentine Yost

Paul Valentine Yost, 77, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ Wednesday, June 24, 2020 surrounded at home by family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 27th at Pine Pleasant Baptist Church. Due to Covid-19 Social Distancing guidelines, only the immediate family along with pallbearers will be allowed in the sanctuary. The service will be broadcast on speakers on campus, and by tuning to 87.9FM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pop’s favorite color was purple, the family request purple to be worn to honor his memory. Active pallbearers will be Kent Long, Jason Long, Mark Yost, Gregory Hess, Duane Bennetch and Francisco Reyes.

Born in the coal region of eastern Pennsylvania, he was a proud son of Ralph and Marian Yost. Paul served in the United States Air Force then faithfully spent his entire working career at Merck Sharp and Dohme Pharmaceuticals. A believer in Jesus Christ, Paul was a member of Pine Pleasant Baptist Church.

Surviving are his sons, Mark Valentine Yost (Julie) of Saluda and Jarrett Lance Yost of California; sister, Ruth Ann Slotterback of Lavelle, Pennsylvania; brother, Carl Yost of Fountain Springs, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Abigail “Abby” Janette Valentine Yost. He is also survived by one nephew and three nieces.

Dad was an avid hiker and advocate for protecting and appreciating not only our forests but also the natural landscapes across the United States. Most importantly possessing a steadfast loving spirit true to who he was at heart.
