Ronnie L. Covington

June 11, 1954 — May 7, 2016

Ronnie L. Covington, age 61, of Leesville, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 7th 2016. He was born in early June 1954 in his loving community of Batesburg-Leesville to the late Lavern “Monk” Covington and the present Venola Derrick Covington. He is the oldest of eight children. Ronnie retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after thirty years of dedicated service. He grew up an avid athlete playing basketball and loved softball with Clyde’s and the Misfits and Gilbert-Rehoboth church team. He married Dr. Dana Lybrand and shared a beautiful daughter, Katie Beth, the true love of his life. Ronnie displayed a wonderful positive attitude wherever he went, always receiving well wishes in return to whoever he met. He truly lived life through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family and watching his beloved daughter play soccer and his USC Gamecocks win. Ronnie had an uncanny ability to reach people in a positive way, with a smile on his face, dimples and all, and his hand outstretched to greet whomever came his way. A true gentleman indeed.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of twelve years, Dana; daughter, Katie Beth; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby (Kay) Covington; Randy (Deana) Covington; Terry (Gina) Covington; Tim Covington; John Covington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jenny (Bobby) Hallman; Patsy (Dal) Stone; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, at 11:00 A.M. at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, Holley Ferry Road with burial immediately following in the church cemetery with Rev. Noble Miller officiating. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Price, Stanley Smith, Danny Addy, Robert Epting, Randy Barnes, Jeff Price, Henry Price and Wade Oxner.
