Ruthel Boatwright

Ruthel Enlow Boatwright, 73, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021. The funeral service for Mrs. Boatwright will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 3rd at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with burial to follow in Ridge Crest Memorial Park. The Rev. Bobby Smith and Rev. Rusty Trotter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday, August 2nd at the funeral home, and other times at her home. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons: Branden Boatwright, Ashaley Boatwright, Jonathan Clark, Kody Clark, and Cole White. Honorary pallbearers will be: Courie Boatwright, Noah Boatwright and Kevin Cockrell.

Mrs. Boatwright was born in Saluda County, SC, a daughter of the late Ernest Enlow and Ella Ruth Warren Enlow. She retired from Saluda County Roads and Bridges Department. Mrs. Boatwright was married for 54 years to the late, Francis Larry Boatwright who preceded her in death just a few short weeks prior. She was known as the life of the party, a good storyteller, one who loved flowers and who welcomed everyone into her home. One of the family’s fondest memories was her ability to preach the Humpty Dumpty story like an old-time gospel preacher. She received her Associates Degree in Accounting after going back to school in her 40's. Mrs. Boatwright loved visiting Maggie Valley and Cherokee, NC where was known to go tubing. She was a faithful Christian, who fought her battle with cancer to the end. Mrs. Boatwright was well versed in the bible and was a member Emmanuel Congregational Holiness Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Surviving are her children, Craig Boatwright (Crys), Christy Clark (Bobby), and Gina White (Doug) all of Batesburg; grandchildren, Branden Boatwright (Emily), Jamey Martell, Ashaley Boatwright (Katie), Courie Boatwright, Levi Boatwright, Faith England, Noah Boatwright, Jonathan Clark (Karly), Kody Clark (Sam), Samantha Clark, Miracle White, Cole White (Courtney); and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, James Enlow (Carolyn), Larry Enlow (Barbara) and Steve Enlow (Judy). In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Claudia Cockrell, Julia Trotter and Rudolph Enlow.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff with Homestead Hospice of Greenwood for their care during Mrs. Boatwright's illness.
