It is great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Alex McDomnal Cochran V, age 18, taken away far too soon, leaving behind a world forever changed by his presence. Though his time here was brief, the depth of his spirit and the imprint of his heart were immeasurable.
Alex will forever be remembered for his creativity, gentle soul, his passion for music, and the courage it took to be unapologetically himself. His unique way of seeing the world will remain part of his legacy. A lover of bass guitar, baritone, and recently learning to play the piano, he didn’t just play notes, he felt them. Music was his language, refuge, and his way of connecting to the world. He was currently a senior at Ridge Spring-Monetta High School with a strong interest in IT and graphic design and was excited about building a future in creative technology.
Alex wore his heart on his sleeve. He felt deeply, loved honestly, and never hid who he was. His openness, sensitivity, and authenticity were rare qualities that made him unforgettable. Though our hearts ache in his absence, we honor and celebrate Alex’s life, the music he played, the love he gave, and the unique light he brought into the world.
Alex is survived by his loving parents, Mark Alex Cochran, and Crystal Lynn Black of Saluda, SC; two siblings, Emma Black (Dylan), Adalyn Cochran; niece, Emory Black Tallent; grandparents, Debbie Black and Jim Bartley; his aunts, Jan Barr (Derek), Alice Hallman (Brice), Shelia Crady (Tony), Angie McGee (Ricky), and Barabra Cochran. He is also survived by his cousins , Ellison Barr, George Barr, Avery McGee, Tony Crady, Marlee McGee, Grace Ingle (Matthew), Seth McGee, and Najgi Crady.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers; Homer William Black and Alex "Bo" McDonald Cochran III; grandmothers, Florance Elizabeth Cochran and Sandra Cochran; great grandparents, Grady "Jack" William and Emma Susie Black; as well as his great grandmother, Ora Elizabeth Gillian.
The funeral mass to honor Alex's life will be held 1 o'clock on Wednesday, February 11th, at St. Williams Catholic Church, 1199 Ridge Spring Road, Ward, SC, with Father Vincent Finnerty officiating.
