Alva “Al” Euston Werts, III, 73, of Leesville, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025. Born in Newberry County, South Carolina, he was a son of Alva Euston Werts, II, and Mary Nell Wicker Werts.
Al proudly considered himself a true BBQ master and enjoyed judging barbecue events through the South Carolina Barbeque Association. An avid gardener, he participated in Clemson Extension programs. Al loved animals and cherished time spent with family and friends, especially during get-togethers. In his younger years, he volunteered with community programs serving individuals with disabilities in Newberry.
Surviving are his wife, Debbie Werts; sons and daughters-in-law, Hunter Werts (Beth) and Tanner Werts (Alex); and grandsons, Archer, Theo, Waylon, and Wyatt. Also surviving are his sister, Linda Lever; and brother, Joey Werts.
A private memorial service to celebrate Al’s life will be held.
