A Memorial Service for Ruth Pearson will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 3pm at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St, Aiken with Dr. George Howle officiating. A reception will follow at the church. A graveside committal service will be held prior to the Memorial Service at 2:15pm at Aiken Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday October 13, 2008 from 6-8 PM at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the RAMP Ministry at St. Johns United Methodist Church 104 Newberry St. Aiken, 29801 or to any animal shelter.

Ruth Pearson, 74, of Aiken, died Saturday October 11, 2008 at the Pepper Hill Living Center.

She was born in Renfroe Alabama, a daughter of the late Gentry Mellon and the Late Ruth Ann Hutton Mellon.. She graduated from the Winterboro, AL High School and attended the Sylacauga Alabama Nursing School. She married Edsel Pearson in 1956. She worked as a nurse for over forty years and cared for people at Aiken Regional Medical Centers for over thirty years. Mrs. Ruth loved to cook, going to the beach and long walks with her Orange dog. She had a passion for socializing with her neighbors and she was a regular member of the Prime Timers and the Sunny Monday groups at St. Johns where she was a member. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edsel, who died in 1986.

Mrs. Ruth is survived by two sons; Barry Michelle Pearson, Aiken and Bart Pearson, Aiken, three grandchildren; Ryan, Travis, and Lauren Pearson, all of Aiken, three sisters; Inez Searcy, Plantersville, AL, Sara Henderson, Talladega, AL, and Maretta Hall, Fredricksburg, MD, four brothers; Joe Mellon, Oxford, AL, Wayne Mellon, Talladega, AL, Robert Mellon, Renfroe, AL, and Jimmy Mellon, Talladega, AL.
