A funeral Liturgy Mr. Anthony S. Tony Ferrara will be held Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 11am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. The family will receive friends Friday, December 21, 2007 from 6 ? 8 pm at George Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW Aiken. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC, 29210, or to the charity of your choice.

Mr. Ferrara, 79, of Aiken, died Wednesday December 19, 2007 at Carriage Hills Nursing Center, Aiken.

Born in New Britain, CT, he was a son of the late Joseph Mario and Constance Squillacote Ferrara. He had lived in Lamonte, IL before moving to Aiken in 1952. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor?s degree in Engineering. He was a Technical Engineer at DuPont Savannah River Site for forty one years. He was a member of the American Society of Metals, Boy Scout Troop #110, Knights of Columbus Council # 3687, and Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. He was a supporter of the Aiken Civic Ballet. He was on the Advisory Board for the Boy Scout Order of the Arrow, and was on the Board of the Directors for the Fermata Club.

In addition to his parents Mr. Ferrara was predeceased by his brother Joseph Ferrara. Mr. Ferrara is survived by his wife, Sally Chmelik Ferrara, sons, Dr. George A. Kinga Ferrara, Augusta, John A. Debra Ferrara, Florence, SC, Peter A. Ferrara, James Island SC, daughters, Nancy F. Jeff Zierenberg, Westerville, OH, Susan A. Ferrara, Aiken, sister, Delores Malizia, grandchildren, Thomas Zierenberg, William Zierenberg, Olivia Ferrara, Kendall Ferrara, and life-long friend, William B. Sibley.
