Betty Jean Johnson Widener Harrington

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jean Johnson Widener Harrington will take place on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 11am at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Rev. Eddie Penland officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Campbell, Eddie Bell, Dwayne Newman, Charles Hall, Dwight Hall & Stephen Boles. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening Thursday from 6-8pm. Memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Harrington, 77, of Aiken, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at her residence.

A lifelong resident of Aiken County, she was a member of Couchton Baptist Church. She had been employed at the Woolworths Department store in Aiken until the time it closed. She then worked and ultimately took over the Johnson's Grocery Store in Couchton before she retired in the late 1980's.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two husbands, Lewis Curtis Widener, Jr. and Robert Lee Harrington; a son, Charles Widener and a brother, Lonnie W. Johnson.

She is survived by a son, Otis Widener Kim , Trenton; a daughter, Theresa Newman, Couchton, SC, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
