Blanch Yvonne Martin, 68, was reunited with loved ones on October 13, 2025. Yvonne was born on July 31, 1957, in Bamberg, South Carolina, to Victor Rude Martin and Julie Mae Carter Martin.
An only child for her first ten years, Yvonne’s world grew brighter with the arrival of her brothers, Victor “Rudy” Martin and Robert “Bubba” Martin. She cherished her family deeply from an early age and carried that devotion throughout her life.
Yvonne graduated from Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School in 1976 and went on to attend Southern Methodist College in Orangeburg, SC. In 1982, her greatest joy arrived — her son, William “Lee” Martin. Being a mother was her proudest accomplishment, and until her last day, Lee remained faithfully by her side. She instilled in him a life rooted in faith, love, and happiness, and her spirit continues to live through him.
Each spring, Yvonne could be found cheering for her Atlanta Braves, and when fall rolled around, it was all about Clemson football. She shared countless hours of laughter and excitement with Lee during these games. Her other great love was her many dogs and cats over the years — her “boys and girls” — each one adored and spoiled in true Yvonne fashion.
From 1998 until her passing in 2025, Yvonne served as the Administrative Assistant for the Southern Methodist Church Headquarters. She was truly the voice of the organization and a steadfast presence for everyone she worked with. Yvonne loved her job and the people she encountered each day.
Her faith remained strong throughout her life, guiding her steps and providing comfort. She was a devoted member of both First Southern Methodist Church of Orangeburg and Bethany Baptist Church over the years.
Yvonne is survived by her son, William “Lee” Martin of Neeses, SC; brothers Victor “Rudy” Martin (Becky) of Hampton, SC, and Robert “Bubba” Martin (Jennifer) of Smoaks, SC; as well as many nieces, nephews, and “bonus sons and daughters.” She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Rude Martin (1985) and Julie Mae Carter Martin (2006), along with many beloved family members and friends who went before her.
A memorial service in her honor will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at First Southern Methodist Church of Orangeburg, 2456 Broughton St., Orangeburg, SC 29115. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life by wearing bright colors, especially pink and purple, which were Yvonne’s favorites.
