Carl Reichle Bottomley, Jr., 89, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away on October 3, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 19, 1937, in Newark, NJ, he was a son of the late Carl R. Bottomley, Sr and Catherine Weil Bottomley. A faithful servant of God, Carl was a devoted member of All Saints Anglican Catholic Church, Associate of the Order of the Holy Cross of West Park, New York, and lived his life guided by his strong Christian faith. He was widely known for his kindness, generosity, and servant's heart, always willing to help someone in need. A natural problem solver and true people person, Mr. Bottomley cherished the friendships he made throughout his life.

Mr. Bottomley proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Throughout his life, he pursued many passions and interests that reflected his vibrant personality and creative spirit. He was an avid fly fisherman, golfer, a devoted New York Yankees fan, and an enthusiastic reader. He had a deep appreciation for music and photography. His love of music inspired him to create a music program that was introduced into nursing homes, bringing joy, comfort, and companionship to countless residents. Known for his impeccable sense of style, he was a vision of sartorial splendor who was often admired as a traditional clothier who took great pride in his presentation. His fashion sense and charismatic presence even led him to work as a model during his younger years. Whether dressed for church, a community event, or a simple gathering with friends, Mr. Bottomley carried himself with dignity, confidence, and grace.

Service played a significant role in Mr. Bottomley's life, and he devoted countless hours to others and to strengthening his community. He was especially proud to call Aiken home and embraced his years here as a grateful and enthusiastic newfound native. He served as the former Vice President of the Aiken Republican Club. His warmth, wisdom, and willingness to help others left an enduring impact on everyone who knew him. Above all, Mr. Bottomley was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His family was the center of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with those he loved.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 24 years, Colette Girard; his children, Cheryl Bottomley Carbini, Regan Bottomley (Patrick Harrison), John Hibbard Bottomley (Stefanie), and Margaret Ann Bottomley; his stepchildren, Amy Kelly (Howard) and Todd von Lossberg (Kelley Fletcher); his grandchildren, Vittoria Carbini, Cristian Carbini, Giordan Carbini, Conor Howland, Eleonore Ruth Bottomley, Judah Buck, Jason von Lossberg, Sidney von Lossberg, Victoria Kelly, Allison Kelly, and Brooke Kelly; his great-grandson, Henry Joseph Richard Howland; his brother, Winton Bottomley (Betsy); his niece, Jenny McNally (Paul); his cousin, Karen Steiner; his stepmother, Martha Bottomley; great-niece, Tess McNally; and numerous extended family members and dear friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents.

The memorial Mass celebrating Mr. Bottomley's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at All Saints Anglican Catholic Church, 110 Fairfield St NE, Aiken, SC 29801, with Father Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Historic Aiken Chapel.
