Carolyn Sue McElroy

Carolyn Sue McElroy, 89, of Aiken, passed away on June 2, 2026. Born in Boise City, Oklahoma, she was a daughter of the late Oran Ernest Fleming and Thelma Susan Henson Fleming. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Monroe McElroy, Sr. Carolyn enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing and gardening. She dedicated many years to working in educational administration, where she loved serving children and often joked that they made every day "interesting."

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathleen Sue Hansen; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; along with her sister, Joyce Hutchins; and extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by her sons, Kenneth M. McElroy, Jr. and Michael David McElroy; and brother, Rickey Fleming.

A memorial service celebrating the lives of Mr. and Mrs. McElroy will be held at 10:00 o'clock on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with military honors. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Aiken Chapel, is assisting the McElroy family.
