Charles A. Durst, 73, of Batesburg, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Born in Batesburg, he was a son of the late Willie and Earline Sons Durst.
Charles dedicated more than 20 years of his career as a truck driver with Keenan Transport, and then in 1997 he opened Durst Marine and Small Engine Repair, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to his profession. Outside of work, he found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He especially cherished camping trips, fishing, and exploring the many South Carolina State Parks. Above all, Charles treasured every opportunity to be with his grandchildren and great-grandchild, creating memories that will be lovingly remembered for years to come. He was a faithful attendee of First Baptist Church of Batesburg.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Bolin Durst; his sons, Charles M. Durst and Tony A. Durst (Sandra); his stepchildren, Terry Rogers (Denna) and Teresa Hicks (Billy); three grandchildren, Aurora D. Oswald (Richard), Merewyn Durst, and Chace Durst; and a great-granddaughter, Amber Oswald. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory. Charles was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Durst; and sister, Jane Eargle.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 12 o'clock Saturday morning, July 25th, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel.
