Cynthia Wood McCormick, 57, of Saluda, died on June 22, 2026, at her home. Born in Macon, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Charleton E. Wood Sr. and Laura Bayne Holliday Wood.
Cynthia was employed for many years as a bookkeeper with the hardware store formerly known as Saluda Hardware, where she was respected for her diligence, professionalism, and steady presence. She found great joy in the things she loved most: her grandchildren, lighthouses, hummingbirds, reading, and a warm cup of coffee at any hour of the day. She was a devoted member of 2nd Chance Church and cherished the faith community she found there.
She is survived by her husband, Wendell McCormick; her children, Jessica Phillips, Josh Phillips, Jennifer Owens (Justin); and her stepchildren, Ashley McCormick and Matt McCormick. Cynthia was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Jersey Phillips (Kaden Crawford), Braydon Boatwright, Jordan Burnett, Kensley Burnett, Tony Phillips, Trey Phillips, Alexis Burnett, Jaidyn McCormick, Audrey Phillips, Kiley Phillips, Jason McCormick, and Averie Owens, as well as many others considered grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Chuck Wood, along with numerous extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tony Wood.
A service to celebrate Cynthia’s life will be held at 3 o’clock on Sunday, July 12th, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg‑Leesville Chapel.
