Daniel L. “Dank” Lowman, 91, of Leesville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 14, 2026. Born on September 12, 1934, in Lexington, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Elzie V. and Laurel Pearl Keisler Lowman.
Daniel married the love of his life, Thera Jane Crout Lowman, in 1956. While serving in the military, Daniel and Thera moved across the country to California. After two years, they made their way back home to South Carolina, where Daniel continued his military career as a member of the National Guard. After 32 years of dedicated service, he retired as Master Sergeant Daniel Lowman.
Daniel also enjoyed a long career as a plumber with Derrick Plumbing. Through his work, he made many lifelong and treasured friendships and truly enjoyed what he did. After 50 years of doing work he loved, Daniel retired and he and Thera began enjoying a life of travel together. Sometimes their destination was simply determined by which way they decided to turn at the end of the driveway. They enjoyed many adventures together until Thera’s health no longer allowed them to travel.
Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law who loved him dearly, Bridget Lowman Ridgell (Robert “Hop”) and Dena Lowman Clark (Timmy); four grandchildren whom he was so proud of, Trevor Dean (Shelly), Dustin Dean (Amber), Michelle Dean Insley (Shaun), and Christian Ridgell; and his dearly loved great grandchildren, “B” Dean, Lacie Dean, Blayden Allison, Cooper Dean, Briar Dean, and Cove Insley. Daniel is also survived by his much loved niece, Cathy Goff. He treasured the time they spent sitting and chatting together, and Cathy always had a way of lifting his spirits. He also leaves behind a multitude of nieces and nephews whom he loved and cherished.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Thera Jane Crout Lowman; brothers, Jessie Vernon Lowman, Roy Lowman, and Cecil Lowman; and sister, Myrtie Lowman Heywood.
The funeral service for Daniel will be held at 3 o’clock on Tuesday, August 18th at Mt. Hebron Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Christopher Shealy will officiate. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Trevor Dean, Dustin Dean, Shaun Insley, and Christian Ridgell; and nephews, Jeff Lowman and Jessie Lowman. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Derrick and Vern Caughman. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock on Monday, August 17th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Daniel’s caregivers with Home Instead and to Elizabeth Turner for the kindness, compassion, and care shown to Daniel.
