David Ralph Mason, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, in Aiken, South Carolina. Born on July 10th, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, David lived a life filled with love, dedication, and numerous accomplishments.
  
  
  David's journey began in Pittsburgh, where he spent his early years and obtained his Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Pittsburgh where he received a full scholarship for Tennis & Squash. His passion for engineering led to a dedicated career as a Nuclear Engineer with the Department of Energy, where his contributions were highly regarded.
  
  
  Residing in Aiken, South Carolina, David found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman, bird watcher, and gardener, and he enjoyed playing tennis and other racket sports. His weekends were often filled with the excitement of cheering on his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Known for his mechanical skills, he also took great pleasure in working on cars.
  
  
  David was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph & Celia Mason, and his brother, Daniel Mason.
  
  
  He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his wife of 61 years, Wendylyn "Wendy"  Wendy Mason; his son, Greg Mason of New Ellenton, SC; his daughter, Lynn Elaine (Bryan) Platt of Aiken, SC; his brother, Ralph (Peggy) Mason of Greenwood, SC; his three grandchildren, Ashley Platt, Julie Platt, and Leary Platt; and five great-grandchildren, Kassiah, Leah, Jack, Jaycie, and Oakley.
  
  
  A funeral service celebrating David’s life will be held at Southlawn Cemetery & Mausoleum in Aiken, SC, on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, at 10:00AM officated by Mr. Mike Reagin. Relatives, friends, and all those who knew and loved David are invited to attend.
  
  
  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, honoring David's generous spirit and his dedication to helping others.
