Dean L. Balder, 93, of Leesville, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Born in Sharonville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Earl and Fern Daniels Balder. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Betty Balder, with whom he shared 71 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2025.

Dean proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church and the Bible Fellowship Sunday School Class. Dean enjoyed the simple things in life, especially a good cup of coffee, a good meal, and spending time visiting with friends at Lizard’s Thicket. He also enjoyed his cockatiel and Quaker birds and took great pride in keeping his yard well maintained until his health no longer allowed him to do so. Above all, Dean treasured the friendships he made throughout his life and the time spent with those he loved.

Surviving are his children, Dean Lowell Balder, Jr. (Mary Ann), Brenda Sue Tedrick, and Jeffrey Todd Balder, all of Ohio; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several special friends who loved him dearly and will cherish his memory. In addition to his parents and wife, Dean was preceded in death by an infant child; two grandchildren; brother, Earl Balder; and sister, Betty Jane.

The graveside service for Dean will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, October 8th, at First Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Mendle Baker and Mr. Donnie Cason officiating. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is assisting the Balder family.
