Deborah J. Sheckelford

Deborah J. Sheckelford, 69, of West Columbia, SC, peacefully departed this life on July 27th, 2025. Born on March 23, 1956, in Batesburg-Leesville, SC, she was the a daughter of the late Benjamin and Gertrude Rogers Troutman. Deborah touched the lives of all those she encountered with her warmth, kindness, and unparalleled generosity. Throughout her career, Deborah worked as a manager in the restaurant industry, where she shared her passion for hosting and cooking for others. She was of the Baptist faith and found great joy in bringing people together, whether it was through hosting events, playing cards with cherished friends and family, or enjoying a quiet afternoon fishing with her husband. Deborah was not just a mother to her own children; she was considered a mom to many, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her love and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Deborah is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Jerome Sheckelford, with whom she built a life filled with love and laughter. She was a wonderful mother to her children, Dedra Marshall and William Marshall, and a loving grandmother to her cherished grandchildren: Deshaun "Mookie", Matt "Scootie", Ariana "Sassy Sue", Braydon, Paisley, Bryce, Jamarick, Aleiya, Lily, and Kayce, and a great-granddaughter, Willow. She is also survived by her sister, Diane Seals (Tommy), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Deborah was preceded in death by her loving parents, her son Jeffery, and her brothers, Benny and Billy Ray.

The service for Deborah will be held at 3 o'clock on Saturday, August 9th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service beginning from 2 until 3 o'clock.

Deborah's spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Though she will be dearly missed, her memory will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved her.
