Donald James McKay

Donald James McKay, 68, of Batesburg, SC, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024. Born on August 16, 1955 in Aiken County, he was the son of the late James and Lula Mae McKay. Donald touched the lives of those around him with his kind heart and gentle spirit. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Surviving are his sisters, Louise McKay Smith (Jimmie), Sarah May McKay Storey, and Minnie Pearl McKay Storey (Curtis); along with many extended family members and friends. Mr. McKay was preceded in death by his father, James S. McKay, and his mother, Lula Mae McKay.

The funeral service for Mr. McKay will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 25th at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Aiken County, with burial following in the church cemetery. Pastor Bill Watkins will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at the church. Active pallbearers will be his nephews: Jackie Hill, Caleb Gandee, Rusty Smith, Russ Smith, Austin Smith and Landon Smith.
