Doris Boothe, 93, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 5, 1932, in Pearisburg, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Braden and Ruby Hylton. Mrs. Boothe lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. She had a deep love for the outdoors and found great joy in traveling, gardening, and fishing, especially when it came to reeling in the occasional big catfish, a pastime that became part of her cherished legacy. Affectionately known as “Granny,” she held a special place in the hearts of all who knew her.
A woman of steadfast faith, Mrs. Boothe was a charter member of Couchton Baptist Church, where she was a devoted member since 1957 and played an instrumental role in helping organize the church in its early days. Beyond her church, she was also a committed member of her community, volunteering at the election polls for more than 30 years.
Above all, Mrs. Boothe treasured her family. She found her greatest happiness in the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and the generations that followed, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue for years to come.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 77 years, David Huston Boothe; her son, Clinton “Dale” Boothe (Janis); her grandchildren, David Boothe (Kim), Shanon Boothe (Amy), and Michelle Johnson (Chad); seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Ernest, and Lonnie Hylton; and her sister, Evelyn Francis.
