Doris McDaniel Woods, 81, of Lexington, entered her Heavenly home on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Born on August 7, 1944, she was the daughter of the late James Vernon and Doris Melba Rose McDaniel. Doris was the devoted wife of the late Jackson Lee Woods.
A faithful member of Edmund First Baptist Church, Mrs. Woods served as a Sunday School teacher and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her generous spirit shone brightly through her support of numerous charities. She also had a love for shopping, especially when it came to Amazon.
She is survived by her children, James Lee “Woody” Woods (Dana Medley), Wilbur “Will” Woods (Shelly), and Doris Kathleen “Kathy” Whittle (Russell); grandchildren, Lynne Layne (Brandy), Rebekah Woods, Michelle Woods, Miranda Hull (John), Airen Clamp (Alecia), Cameron Clamp and Chandler Oswalt; along with several great-grandchildren and extended family members. She is also survived by her sister, Betty McDaniel Landers; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Lee "Gar" Oswalt.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 12 o’clock on Tuesday, August 19th, at Edmund First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Johnny Slice and Rev. Brandon Phillips will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11 o’clock in the church sanctuary.
