Durham "Buddy" Desmond Dorman, 72, of Pelion, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 6, 1954, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Buddy was the beloved son of the late Desmond Dorman and Jean Blackwell Dorman. Buddy dedicated 50 years of loyal service to Harsco Rail before retiring. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and dedication throughout his career.
Buddy was truly one of a kind. He had a heart as big as his smile and a love for his family that knew no bounds. He was the kind of man who could always be counted on, offering a helping hand, words of wisdom, or simply his quiet presence. To his family, he was more than a husband, father, and grandfather; he was their rock, their protector, and their greatest supporter.
For 52 wonderful years, Buddy shared a beautiful marriage with the love of his life, Judy Wooten Dorman. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, laughter, and family. He was a devoted father to Angie Dorman, Lisa Dorman, and Neil Dorman (Aimee), and an adoring grandfather to Damon Dorman, Dillon Hardee, Riley Hallman, Brianna Pennell, and Adalyn Dorman; and his great-grandson, Drayton Ramey. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Buddy is also survived by his brother, Carl Dorman (Carol). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray Dorman and Barry Dorman.
The service to celebrate the life of Mr. Buddy will be held at 5 o'clock, on Friday, July 3rd, at Dolorosa Worship Center, 376 Old Charleston Road, Pelion. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is assisting the family.
He will be remembered as the best father and grandfather anyone could ever ask for. Although his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his love, strength, and the countless memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him forever.
Buddy's legacy is one of hard work, unconditional love, and unwavering devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
