Edith Christine Douglas

Edith Christine Douglas, 88, of Batesburg, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026. Born in Empire, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Hubert Theodore and Lettie Robins Sargent. She was the wife of the late Standford Douglas. Edith had a special love for poetry and enjoyed the beauty and meaning found in the written word. Above all, she cherished her family and the many memories they shared throughout the years.

Surviving are her children, Standford Wayne Douglas (Donna), Karen Lynn Douglas Cole, Pamela Colleen Douglas, Randolph D. Douglas (Phyllis), and Timothy Anthony Douglas; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Kristy, Nathan, and LaDonna Douglas; and siblings, Belton Sargent, Gene Sargent, Theodore Buck Sargent, Ethel Steele, and Mary Pido.

The family will honor Edith’s life privately, with no formal services planned. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is serving the Douglas family.
