Ernie K. Wertz

Ernie Kelly Wertz, 72, of Saluda passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022. Born in Greenwood, SC, he was a son of the late Advil Dupree Wertz and Katie Harrison Wertz. Mr. Wertz was a US Army veteran and served during the Vietnam Era. He loved hunting, fishing and working outdoors in the yard. Mr. Wertz had a heart of gold and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Petie. Mr. Wertz was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church of Saluda.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Verna Karen Wertz; children, Richard Lloyd Wertz, William Travis Wertz, Kelly Wertz Blume and Bridget Ann Hall; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Mike "Stumpy" Wertz (Joanna), A.D. Wertz (Judy), Lucky Wertz; and a sister, Laura Storey (Ted). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Hammond.

The family will have a private memorial gathering at a later date for close friends and family.
