Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Leland Adams will be held on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 12pm at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Asheville, NC. Interment will follow in Lewis Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken, and on Monday at the church from 11am until the hour of service. Memorial contributions may be directed to First Presbyterian Building Fund, 1604 Arendell St, Morehead City, NC, 28557 Or Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 789 Merrimon Dr, Asheville, NC, 28804.

Mrs. Adams, 90, of Aiken, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Born in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Raymond and Rosalie Smith Leland. She moved to Aiken in 2003 from Pine Knoll Shores, NC. She was a founding member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian in Asheville, NC and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morehead, NC. She was a past member of the PTA Asheville, Den Leader of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was past president of the Women's Auxiliary at Memorial Mission Hospital and the Women of the Church at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two grandchildren, sister, Bernice Leland Lemmon. She is survived by her husband of sixty two years, Dr. Horace Adams, Jr., sons, Rev. Dr. John Nichols Linda Adams, Jr., Boulder, CO; Horace Lynette Adams, III, Carmichael, CA; J. Leland Claudia Adams, Aiken, SC, daughters, Anita Rev. Henry George, Jr. Randolph, Elkhart, IN; Lucile Tom Adams Craigo, Manasses, VA; eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
