Evelyn G. Bridges

Evelyn Greer Bridges, 97, of Eden Gardens, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Dr. James M. Bridges.

Survivors include a son Robert Nancy Bridges, Rochester, NY; daughters, Patricia Wendell Belew, Aiken; Diane Jim Keplinger, Sullivan, ME.; grandchildren, Scott, Hatton and Jim Valentine; Colleen, Tracie, and Brad Bridges, Debbie Gallant; Craig and Adam Barber, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Born in Montreal Canada in 1910, she moved to New York City where she danced with the "Earl Carroll Vanities" until marrying in 1930. She lived in Washington, D.C. and Arlington, VA. and moved to Aiken in 1995. In Aiken she played golf at Houndslake Country Club and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service will be held at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with the Rev. Timothy Hammons of Grace Presbyterian Church officiating on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 3:00 pm.
