Evelyn S. Holsenback

June 17, 1942 — May 1, 2026

Ridge Spring

Evelyn S. Holsenback, 83, of Ridge Spring, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 1, 2026. Born on June 17, 1942, in Windsor, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Dunbar and Margie Evie Stone. She was a devoted member of Providence Baptist Church of Johnson and retired from Graniteville Company after more than 30 years of dedicated service.

Family was her heart. She had a way of making everyone feel at home, no matter where life took us, we were always surrounded in her love. Her laughter carried through backyards and porches, turning ordinary days into unforgettable memories. She loved the open air in a way that made the world feel softer. Whether it was the quiet rustle of leaves, the warmth of the sun on her face, or the simple joy of sitting outside with the people she loved most, she found peace there, and she shared that peace with her family.

She had a special way of bringing life into everything she touched. Her hands were rarely still, always planting, tending, and nurturing. She loved her flowers and her garden, not just for their beauty, but for the peace they gave her. In every bloom, there was a piece of her care, her patience, and her quiet joy. Now, even though she is gone, her presence lingers in those same places, the breeze, the light, the stillness. Every time we step outside, every time we gather together, we feel her there. Not in a way that brings sadness, but in a way that reminds us how deeply we were loved. She gave us a love that does not fade; it lives on in the way we care for each other, in the way we pause to enjoy the world around us, just as she did. And in those quiet, beautiful moments, it feels as though she is still with us.

Surviving are her children, Vickie Russ (Charles), Sherry Rogers (James), Ricky Holsenback (Brandy), and Jennie Wilson (Daniel); grandchildren, Christopher Reynolds and Heather Thompson (Tony); and great grandsons, Hunter and Carter Reynolds. She is also survived by brother, William “Bill” Stone; beloved “like son and daughter,” Robert and Sharon Reynolds; and her “like a sister,” Mary Yarbrough. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tollie M. Holsenback; brother, Tommy Stone; and grandparents, Everett and Sarah Williams.

The service to celebrate the life of Evelyn will be conducted at 2 o'clock on Wednesday, May 6th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Aiken Chapel with the Rev. Randy Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to visit from 1 until 2 o'clock prior to the service beginning.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Hospice of Aiken, 550 Silver Bluff Rd., Suite 200, Aiken, SC 29803.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks for the love and care that was shown to Mrs. Evelyn in her final days to the staff of Agape Hospice of Aiken, especially Maria Ward, Mary Milligan, and Takisha Gilchrist.
