Frank Ray Axson, Sr. "Pete"

Frank Ray Axson, Sr. “Pete”, 83, of Leesville, passed away June 19, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, June 23, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Axson was born on May 24, 1934 in Columbia, SC. He was the son of the late Henry Mack Axson and Sadie Elzada Wilson. After more than 30 years of service, he retired from the US Post Office. He also served his country for more than 20 years in both the Navy Reserves and the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Sinclair Masonic Lodge in West Columbia and the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Surviving are his wife, Jacquelyn Miller Axson; sons, Frank Ray Axson, Jr (deceased); Kevin Mitchem; daughters and son-in-law, Paulette Thompson; Dara Lynn (Wade) Rhoney; sisters, Gladys Adkins (deceased); Inez Williams (deceased); brothers, Larry and Henry Axson (deceased); grandchildren, Patrick Thompson; Ashley (Marty) Wilson; Bradley Shirer; and three great grandchildren.
