Sharlene Mills

Sharlene Mills, 80, of Leesville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Born on December 9, 1945, in Norwood, Missouri, she was a daughter of the late William Edward Caudle and Bertha Brazell Caudle.

Sharlene was a former longtime and faithful member of Graniteville Church of God before joining B-L Congregational Holiness Church of Batesburg. She loved her church family and found great joy in worship, fellowship, and singing. Known for her warm heart and outgoing personality, she truly never met a stranger. Whether she was spending time with family, working on crafts, enjoying a trip to the beach, or sharing a laugh with friends, Sharlene brought joy wherever she went.

One of the most special relationships in her life was with her identical twin sister. Around town, they were affectionately known as "the twin sisters," and it was often said that if you saw one, you saw the other. Their bond was a treasured part of Sharlene's life and a source of countless cherished memories for family and friends. Above all, she loved her family deeply. Her kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her.

Surviving are her sister and best friend, Darlene Bagwell; brothers, David Edward Caudle, Donald Gene Caudle (Barbie), and Ronnie James Caudle (Chere); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Lester Mills, Jr.; her son, James "Jamie" Heyward Mills; her sister, Correna Phillips; and her brother, Robert Lee Caudle.

The service to celebrate Mrs. Mills' life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at B-L Congregational Holiness Church, 255 Dickert Dr., Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006, with Reverend Marc Sanders and Reverend David Cockrell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is serving Mrs. Mills' family.
