Gail Andrea Wright

Gail Andrea Wright, 86, of Aiken, South Carolina, entered into rest on September 15, 2026. Born on September 3, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Gail was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Beam and Ada Scheuren Beam. She spent her early childhood in Philadelphia before her family moved to Springfield, Pennsylvania, where she attended Springfield High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. A natural leader, Gail was honored as a Rotary International Scholarship recipient, earning the opportunity to travel abroad to England.

Following high school, Gail was accepted into Syracuse University to study Business Administration. However, her desire to serve others led her in a different direction, and she chose to pursue nursing studies at Penn State University. While attending Penn State, she was a member of the Beta Sigma Omicron sorority and met Joseph G. Norton, who would become her first husband, at a social gathering while visiting Villanova University with friends. Gail and Joseph were married in 1961 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Denville, New Jersey. Together they built a life and raised their family in the close-knit community of Rainbow Lakes, New Jersey, where Gail became actively involved in numerous civic and volunteer organizations.

Throughout her life, Gail embraced many professional roles with dedication and enthusiasm. Her career included work as a preschool teacher, executive secretary, office manager, radio advertising professional, and Sales Manager for Artisan Electronics in Parsippany, New Jersey. No matter the position, she was known for her strong work ethic, organizational skills, and ability to connect with people.

On October 8, 1994, Gail married Roy C. Wright in West Essex, New Jersey. After spending several years together in New Jersey, they retired to Aiken, South Carolina, settling in the Cedar Creek Golf Community in 2000. Over the next 26 years, Gail formed cherished friendships with her neighbors and became deeply involved in several faith communities throughout Aiken. A devoted Christian, she was passionate about her faith, sang in church choirs, and alongside Roy, led home Bible studies that touched many lives.

Gail was also dedicated to serving her community. She volunteered as a Scout troop leader and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rainbow Lakes Fire Department. Her servant’s heart, welcoming spirit, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

In her free time, Gail enjoyed a wide range of hobbies and interests. She was an avid tennis player in her younger years, joined a sailing club and learned to sail, and found great joy in gardening, sewing, and quilting. An accomplished quilter, she lovingly created pieces that became treasured keepsakes for family and friends.

Above all, Gail's greatest joy was her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness, wisdom, and faith were evident in every aspect of her life.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Gregory Norton and wife, Amanda (Nadeau) Norton, Timothy Scott Norton and wife, Carolyn (Side) Norton, and Denise Marie Norton and husband, Lawlor Brown; her grandchildren, Julia Norton, Megan Norton Branning, TJ Norton, Aiden Norton, Joziah William Brost, and Elianna Mercy Brost; along with her four-legged companions, Belle, Maggie, Mohcha and many extended family members, dear friends, and members of the faith communities she cherished. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph G. Norton and her late husband, Roy C. Wright.

Local services are forthcoming and will be announced by Milton Shealy Funeral Home. A private family service will be held in Kentucky at a later date. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Aiken Chapel, is assisting the family.
