Georgianna Mae Brown

Georgianna Mae Brown "Mae", daughter of the late George and Mae Althouse Paine, passed away Friday morning in Eden Gardens, Aiken. Born June 28, 1908 in Brooklyn, N.Y. she received a Bachelor of Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University, and went on to raise her family in Western Springs, Illinois. Mae led a joyful life filled with love for her family, literature, gardening and her dogs. Mae was happily married for 38 years to Graydon Brown until his death in 1971. She had two daughters, Nora Brown Kwait of Bonita Springs, Fla. and Georgianna Brown Gimbel of Aiken. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Lisa Martyn and Kristen Mitrovich and six great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mae's life will be held on Friday, April 24 at 2pm at Eden Gardens, Aiken, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Congregational Church of Western Springs, Ill. or to the First Presbyterian Church of Aiken.
