Geraldine Louise Roberts

Geraldine L. Roberts, 86, of Newberry, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Conway, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Els Ward and Lucile Agnes Pervette. Geraldine was a woman ahead of her time and was known as one of the first female truck drivers. She proudly drove an 18-wheeler for Gantt Trucking, a career she enjoyed and was proud of throughout her life. Geraldine had a love for fishing, cooking, and, most of all, being surrounded by her family. She cherished the time spent with those she loved and created many special memories that will be treasured for generations to come. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Gilbert.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Robin Blasco (Enrique); and her grandchildren, Bryan Roberts, Lakin Williams, Britany Blasco, John Williams, Kirstie Edwards (Travis), Alicen Lily (Issac), Michael Blasco, Sara Jones, and John Jones Jr. (Susie). She is also survived by her 22 great-grandchildren: Anthony, Isabella, Cannon, Riot, Jersey, Jace, Jhett, India, Legand, Angel, Camden, Memphis, Bryleigh, Ethan, Karessa, Ava, Benny, Kara, Raina, Jackson, Rip, and Kace. In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Kenneth Roberts; two children, Karessa Goff-Williams and Gary Dean Roberts; her brother, Tommy Gerald; and her sister, Wanda Jacobs.

The family will hold a memorial gathering celebrating Geraldine's life at 2 o'clock on Saturday, August 22nd at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 533 Hayride Road, Gilbert, SC, with the Rev. Dennis Metts officiating. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
