Gerard Michael Engeholm, 81, of Aiken, SC, passed away peacefully at his home on April 8, 2026. Born on November 8, 1944, in the Bronx, New York, he was a son of the late Gerard Charles Engeholm and Helen Marie Barton Engeholm.
Mr. Engeholm received his early education at St. Francis Xavier Grammar School and went on to graduate from Cardinal Hayes High School. Following his graduation, he proudly served his country for four years in the United States Army. Upon completing his military service, he pursued higher education with great dedication, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Pace University in New York, New York. He continued his academic journey at New York University, where he earned both his MBA and PhD.
Mr. Engeholm built a distinguished career in finance, working for twenty years with two major Wall Street firms. His passion for education led him to a long and impactful career as an adjunct professor, teaching for thirty years at Pace University. After relocating to South Carolina in 2008, he continued to share his knowledge and experience, serving as an adjunct professor of accounting and finance at the University of South Carolina Aiken for nine years.
A man of deep faith and service, Mr. Engeholm was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and a faithful parishioner of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Madeline Bartels Engeholm; son, Michael Gerard (Alicia) Engeholm; step-children, Krista Lynn Eggering and Kurt William (Amanda) Eggering; and his cherished grandchildren, Alessandro, Luce, Jake, and Amira.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 o'clock on Thursday, April 16th, at Old St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, with The Very Reverend Father Wilson officiating. Inurnment will be held at 10 o'clock on Monday, April 20th, at St. Mary's Rose Garden Columbarium.
