Harold Crapps

July 19, 1942 — April 8, 2026

Lexington

Harold Crapps, 83, of Lexington, was born on July 19, 1942, in Gilbert, South Carolina. He went to Heaven to be with the loved ones waiting for him on April 8, 2026. He was the son of the late Pauline Crapps and Julian Crapps and was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Yevette Crapps.

After growing up on the family farm in Gilbert, Harold moved to Lexington. One of his early jobs he often spoke of was working at the cotton mill in Columbia. In the early 1960s, he started a family of his own. By the late 1970s, he met June, fell in love, and his family instantly grew.

Harold spent most of his life working as an independent contractor, installing sheetrock and performing general home repairs. After suffering a heart attack, he was forced to step away from full-time work, but that did not stop him from taking on odd jobs whenever he could. Beginning in 2012, he made his home with his daughter, Valerie.

“Pop” will be greatly missed. His children’s fondest memories include being a Daddy’s girl, learning how to drive, being taught the work ethic needed to run a business, and witnessing firsthand how to raise children who grow up respecting their parents.

He is survived by his daughters, Valerie Ferrell and Patsy Buchanan (Joshua); his sons, Harold Gwinn Williams and Michael Butler; his grandchildren, Adam, Edward, Kimberly, April, Heather, Andrew, Cindy, Crystal, Brooke, Jeffery, Tiffany, Bridgette, Morgan, and Chloe; his sisters, Sonja Vaughn, Glenda Church, Snooky Lindler, and Pam Crolley; along with numerous extended family members. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June Crapps; son, James Crapps; daughter, Joyce Crapps; and his cherished fur baby, Old Lady BB.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Milton Shealy Funeral Home for their assistance, and to Midlands Service of America Hospice (MSA) for their compassionate care, especially Kia McDowell.

No formal services will be held at this time. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at MiltonShealy.com.
