Faye James

December 31, 1931 — March 24, 2026

Ridge Spring

Helen Faye James, 94, of Summerville, formerly of Ridge Spring, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on March 25, 2026. Born in Camden, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Sidney Hinson and Edna Kelly Hinson. Mrs. James was a faithful member of Ridge Spring Baptist Church and dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a registered nurse until her retirement. Alongside her beloved husband, she proudly co-owned and operated the Village Kitchen in Ridge Spring, where her love for cooking and baking brought joy to many.

Mrs. James found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, always in ink, was an avid reader, and loved antiquing. Her warmth, wit, and strong spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Debra J. Mitchell, Donna O. James, Luddrick M. James, Jr. (Michelle), and Tina J. Blackwell (Terry); her grandchildren, Robert W. Mitchum (Stephanie), Erin Yocco (Ryan), Kristin Cranford, Matthew James, Daniel James, and Marti Evans (Rickie); eight great-grandchildren; and her brother, James Sydney Hinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Luddrick M. James, Sr.; and her sisters, Margaret Locklear and Betty Spagnolia.

The graveside service for Mrs. James will be held at 2 o'clock on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Ridge Spring Cemetery with Pastor Dean Hill officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is serving the family.

Memorials may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
