Hilda Gertrude York

Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Gertrude Kohn York will be private and under the direction of George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Aiken. Mrs. York, 95, of Aiken, died Thursday December 21, 2006 at Hitchcock House. Memorial donations may be made to South Aiken Presbyterian Church 1711 Whiskey Rd. Aiken, SC 29803.

A daughter of Max and Minna Schmack Harwardt, she was born in Elbing, Germany and came to the United States when she was twelve years old and subsequently became a citizen. Before moving to Aiken in 1997, she had lived in Chicago, IL.

In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by two husbands; Frederick Wilhem Kohn 1960 and Henry York 1985 and a son; Dr. Fred E. Kohn 1985.

Mrs. York is survived by a grandson; Dr. Fred Raymond Kohn, San Diego, CA, a granddaughter; Sue Kohn Shannon and her husband, Dr. Tim Shannon, Aiken, a great-grandson; Kyle Reid Shannon, Aiken, two great granddaughters; Tierney Anne Shannon and Brynne Caroline Shannon, both of Aiken. She is also survived by her daughter in law; Mary Ellen Krippner and her husband Henry of Aiken.
