James Carroll Berry Sr.

James Carroll Berry, Sr., 79, of Monetta, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Born in Batesburg, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Kelly and Elsie Berry.

Carroll was a faithful member of West Creek Baptist Church. For nearly 40 years, he was a familiar and friendly face at Bob's Ace Hardware, where he enjoyed serving his community and the many friendships he made through the years. In his free time, he loved spending time fishing.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 59 years, Katherine Berry; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Dana Berry; grandchildren, Tyler Berry and Morgan Goss (Conner); sisters, Edith Jennings, Edna Steele, and Freida Banks; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Joseph and Calvin Berry, and sister, Frances Moore.

The funeral service for Carroll will be held at 11 o'clock on Friday, July 24th, at West Creek Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. Kevin Hinton will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock on Thursday, July 23rd, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel.
