James "Ronald" Corder, 83, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025. Born on April 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Jack and Virginia Whitlock Corder. Ronald was a devoted member of Ebenezer Southern Methodist Church and previously served as a deacon at Sunnyside Baptist Church, where he dedicated much of his time and energy to his faith and community. A passionate sports enthusiast, Ronald was an avid fan of Carolina Gamecock Football and the Atlanta Braves. In his earlier years, he also enjoyed serving as an umpire for baseball, sharing his love for the game with young athletes.
Among his hobbies, Ronald found joy in solving puzzles and spending time outdoors, particularly fishing, where he cherished peaceful moments by the water. He also loved to listen to old country and gospel music, and nothing made him smile more than hearing his grandchildren sing. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, with his grandbabies and great grands being the light of his life, bringing him great joy and laughter.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Corder; children, Michelle Hall (Chris), April Wall (Mike), Michael Corder (Amanda); grandchildren, Seth Chavis (Kayla), Austin Wall, Daniel Chavis, Kylie Wall, Logan Corder, Riley Corder, Gracelynn Wall; great-grandchildren, Avah, Ayden, Connor, and Jude. Also surviving are his sister, Norma Keisler; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to his parents, Mr. Corder was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Waters Starling and Ruth Ellen Ray.
The funeral service to celebrate Mr. Corder's life will be held at 4 o'clock on Saturday, June 7th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Schneck officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Southern Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 3 o'clock.
