James Chesley "Jim" Curtis III, 71, of Leesville, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, he was the son of the late James Chesley Curtis, Jr. and Emma Cooper Curtis. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army and later retired from International Paper after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed spending his time playing video games, watching football, cooking, and trying new restaurants. Those who knew him well understood that his favorite pastime was online shopping, a hobby he thoroughly enjoyed.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 55 years, Julia Staubitz Curtis of the home; his son, Russell Curtis; his sister, Tammy Devore (John); and his nephew, Brandon Devore. He is also survived by other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
In accordance with Jim's wishes, no services will be held. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is assisting the family.
