James "Jamie" Brian Hopkins, 44, of Columbia, SC, (formerly of Boone County, West Virginia) passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Born on October 15, 1981, in Charleston, West Virginia, Jamie was a 2000 graduate of Scott High School in Madison, West Virginia, and a 2008 graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. Jamie was known to be brutally honest, quick-witted, and had a great sense of humor, along with the biggest heart filled with love for the people who meant the most to him. He had a smile and laugh that would light up a room. Jamie was often the life of the party. If you knew Jamie, you loved everything about him. He had a love for all things electronic, Harry Potter, gaming systems, and Marshall University.
He met the love of his life, Brenn Hartley, when he moved to Columbia, South Carolina. For 10 years, they built a love that complemented them perfectly. When friends and family were around, they knew they were meant to be.
He is survived by his loving partner, Brenn Hartley of Columbia, South Carolina; his sister, Trena Hager (Craig) of Madison, West Virginia; and his mother, Debra Hopkins of Danville, West Virginia. Jamie is preceded in death by his father, James Alvin Hopkins of Danville, West Virginia.
No services are planned at this time. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is assisting the family.
